BlancVPN occupies a specific niche: users who need obfuscation, want an EU-jurisdiction provider, or run many devices simultaneously.

What Happened to Ivacy?

Ivacy previously appeared on this list as the lowest-headline-price option. In 2026 Ivacy was discontinued and its users were migrated to PureVPN. We've removed it from the ranking because it's no longer a product you can buy. We note this rather than silently deleting it — tracking what changes in this market is part of the job.

What Makes a Budget VPN Worth Buying

Not all cheap VPNs are equal. Here are the three things that actually separate a good budget VPN from one that's just cheap:

1. An audited no-logs policy. Any VPN can claim "we don't log your data." An audit from KPMG, Cure53, or Deloitte costs money and requires genuine access to infrastructure. Of the six providers above, five have published audits (Surfshark, NordVPN, PureVPN, CyberGhost, IPVanish). Only BlancVPN has not, as of our last check.

2. Honest renewal pricing. The $2–3/month headline is the promotional rate. Most VPNs price their renewals significantly higher — often 2x to 3x the introductory price.

3. The right protocol for your use case. WireGuard is fast and the right default for most users. If you're on a network that detects and blocks VPN traffic, you need an obfuscation protocol. V2Ray (BlancVPN), Shadowsocks, or stealth modes (PureVPN offers obfuscation) are the options worth knowing about.
